The vegetable vendors are annoyed. They have taken to protest the action taken by Municipal Corporation as this has affected their sales. It may be noted that the street vendors had occupied a lot of place on the road side at Delhi Gate which was resulting in traffic jams and the road that was actually wide enough to accommodate smooth traffic had been narrowed down to a great extent.

After the administration cleared off this encroached area, traffic became much easier. It was also stated that all possible strict actions will be taken if the vendors encroach this place again. It may also be noted that no alternative was suggested for the vegetable vendors.

The vendors are now protesting as selling vegetables results in earning them their daily bread. People of the city have been buying their vegetable supplies from these vendors since a long time. An extreme conflicting situation has risen between the vendors and Municipal Corporation.

The female vendors, expressing their aggressiveness on Thursday, dumped vegetables on the road when the Municipal Corporation teams arrived. The cleaners had to clear off the road later. The vendors demanded that they must be allowed to continue their work as they sit on road sides and that does not affect the traffic. There Municipal Corporation says that because of the vegetable vendors in this part of the city, other street vendors also occupied space which was resulting in traffic jams.

A good thought must be given to this issue. If at all the vegetable vendors are not creating trouble with traffic and if the main cause behind the issue lies with other street vendors, action must be taken against those particular vendors. Food carts, chaat items, juice carts and other such carts must be removed or relocated.
