GREAT NEWS-Jaisamand likely to overflow today

Udaipur, November 25,2024 - Jaisamand Lake, the largest artificial freshwater lake in India, recently faced contamination that disappointed many tourists. The condition of the lake raised alarms as small dead fish were found on the surface, and a foul smell lingered in the area. This contamination has also sparked concerns about the potential impact on the local water supply.

Tourists Disappointed by Lake’s Condition

On Sunday, tourists who visited the lake were shocked by the sight of dead fish along the shore. The unpleasant smell and the fish carcasses spoiled their visit. Locals and tourists alike expressed their disappointment over the lake’s condition.

Water Resources Officials Inspect the Area

Upon learning of the contamination, AEN Dharmendra Chobisa from the Water Resources Department and JEN Hitesh Patel from Jaisamand arrived to inspect the lake. They took water samples to understand the extent of the contamination. However, officials from the Fisheries Department were reportedly unaware of the issue.

Reports indicate that water from areas near Ruthi Rani and Narmadeshwar Mahadev Temple was found to be contaminated. Dead fish were discovered along the shore, and fishermen identified that they belonged to a single species. The contamination appears to have resulted from the fish deaths in the lake.

Concerns Over Drinking Water Supply

The contamination is not just a concern for aquatic life but also for the drinking water supply. Jaisamand Lake provides water to several regions, including Udaipur city, Mewar, Jaisamand, Sarada, and Salumber. The contamination could affect the drinking water supply for lakhs of people living in these areas.

Previous Contamination Incidents

This is not the first time Jaisamand Lake has faced contamination issues. In the past, similar events have led to the death of hundreds of fish. Such incidents have caused significant disruptions in the local water supply, making it difficult for residents to access clean drinking water.
