The current gap between 2 doses of Covishield is 12 to 16 weeks.

The government will decide about the gap within a month's time.

The government is considering reducing the gap between 2 doses of Covishield. The gap reduction is likely to be aimed at people above the age of 45 years. The news has come after public backlash for increasing the interval between 2 doses.

The increase in gap between 2 doses was met with severe criticism and dubbed as a move to cover up for the shortage of vaccines. As per reports, the supply of vaccines seems to have stabilised with regard to demand, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation in India (NTAGI) is about to meet in the coming weeks to finalise on the gap.

The NTAGI will finalise once all relevant scientific data has been reviewed. Presently the gap between 2 doses of Covishield is 12 to 16 weeks. NTAGI has gathered data on the impact of vaccines and their dosage interval on different age groups and from different regions.

They will be able to decide on gap reduction between 2 doses of Covishield especially for those who are above 45 years of age and for the elderly based on scientific evidences.
