Udaipur, November 22,2024 - The Kalika Patrolling Unit, announced in the previous state budget, is now fully prepared to prevent crimes like molestation, teasing, and chain-snatching against women and girls. A total of 216 teams will be formed across Rajasthan, with four teams in Udaipur.
12 Women Constable Each Team
The teams will be stationed at public and sensitive locations, including schools, colleges, markets, religious places, malls, parks, and tourist spots. They will work to prevent crimes targeting women and girls. The Udaipur team will consist of 48 constables, with 12 women constables in each team.
In Udaipur, the teams will be commanded by the ASP of the Special Investigation Unit for Crimes Against Women. The constables will patrol on scooters, with two female constables per scooter. Their uniforms will be blue, and their scooters and helmets will be black, displaying the Kalika Unit's monogram.
Highest Number of Teams in Jaipur
The highest number of 37 teams will be formed in Jaipur, while some districts like Dholpur and Sirohi will have two teams each. To support these teams, the government has approved 864 new posts for women constables.
Before the Kalika Unit, a Lady Patrolling Team was already formed in Udaipur in 2016 to address crimes against women. The team, consisting of 20 female officers, takes action against inappropriate behaviour in public places. These teams are also present in other cities like Jaipur and Kota.
Deputy CM Diya Kumari had earlier announced the formation of 500 Kalika Patrolling Units, with the current order covering 216 units.
