Government should abandon its attachment to officials in positions of power and uphold supremacy of law, says Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar
Udaipur, November 27, 2024. The dispute within the former royal family of Mewar regarding the Dhuni Darshan at Udaipur City Palace following the coronation of the deceased Mahendra Singh Mewar’s son Vishwaraj Singh Mewar shows no signs of stopping. The administration has imposed Section 163 restriction orders in the City Palace area since last night.
Meanwhile, late last night, Lakshyraj Singh Mewar held a press conference in the Jagdish Chowk area. He called the November 25 incident unfortunate and questioned the government and administration, asking if the law is only meant for those in government positions.
"The Constitution says the law is equal for everyone, but it seems pressure is being exerted to carry out illegal activities. We are sitting legally in our home. If anyone has objections, the Court is the right place. The way the police have been given a free hand is condemnable," he said.
Lakshyraj Singh Mewar further said that the current situation reminded him of 1984. He accused government officials of using their positions for personal gain, manipulating the government to bypass the law and push their agenda.
He criticised the misleading of people in the name of worship, saying, "It is not right to deceive people under the guise of prayer. Discussions can take place, but not through hooliganism. Endangering people’s lives is not justified."
He urged the government to abandon its attachment to officials in positions of power and uphold the supremacy of the law. He asked who would be responsible if the government forcefully entered their home by associating with such individuals.
Lakshyraj Singh Mewar did not respond when asked by reporters about the stone-pelting incident on the night of November 25. Vishvaraj Singh Mewar's supporters have claimed the stones were thrown from inside the City Palace.
