Number of cages increased to 11; cage location shifted
Udaipur, October 16, 2024 - Leopard pugmarks were found near a stream in Kelwon ka Kheda leading to an increase in the number of cages in that area from 9 to 11. This was following a review of the search operations in the Gogunda area for the man-eater leopard yesterday, October 15, by Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), SRV Moorchi, Territorial CCF Sunil Chhidri, Deputy Conservators of Forest Mukesh Saini, and Ajay Chittora.
A total of 86 photo trap cameras have been installed throughout the search area, along with four CCTV cameras for live monitoring. Some animals were captured on the trap cameras but there is no evidence that these photos are of the man-eater of Gogunda. Currently, two Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and six field teams are carrying out the search operation.
The Forest Department has been conducting a search operation in Rathore Ka Gudha and Kelwon Ka Kheda for the past two weeks. Thirteen teams with 100 personnel were involved. But with no trace of the leopard, search personnel are now gradually being reduced.
