Coronaviruses are a group of viruses causing diseases in birds and mammals. The diseases include upper respiratory disease in chickens, diarrhea in cows and pigs and respiratory infections in humans which are mild but in rare cases can be fatal. 

Neither vaccination nor anti-virus drug has yet been apporved for the treatment. The word corona refers to the infective from of the virus having a fringe of large bulbous surface projections. It was discovered in the 1960s as infectious bronchitis virus in chickens and nasal cavaties of humans with common cold. In December 2019, more than 2000 cases of the infection were confirmed 851 of which were fatal. 

Coronavirus is believed to cause a significant percent of common cold in human adults and children. Fever and swollen throat occurs in the winters and early sppring season. It can cause pneumonia and bacterial bronchitis. It is also associated with the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and can also affect the gut. In most of the caes of coronavirus, you won't get to know if you have a coronavirus or a different kind of virus causing cold. 

The infection can cause fever, shortness of breath and is particularly fatal for people with weak immunity system. 7 people in Kerala, 2 in Mumbai and 1 each in Hyderabad and Bengaluru have been kept in isolation after the outbreak of virus in China where 26 people are reported to have died beacuse of this virus. More than 20000 passengers returning from China to India have undergone thermal screening at the airports. All medical officers and health centres are on the alert in Rajasthan.
