Udaipur, December 31, 2024 - The Excise Department completed the process of issued occasional licenses for serving alcohol at New Year’s parties on Monday, December 30, 2024. Many applicants faced issues with the online server, which was down multiple times during the day and continued to face problems late into the night.

Licenses Issued but Numbers Unclear

Due to server issues, the exact number of licenses issued could not be confirmed. However, the department expects over 150 licenses to have been issued. Last year, around 150 licenses were issued, and in 2022, the number was approximately 100.

Strict Warnings Issued

The Excise Department has warned that strict action will be taken against those serving alcohol without a license or using liquor from other states. Special monitoring teams have been formed to ensure compliance.

Action Against Illegal Liquor

To prevent illegal liquor sales, the Excise Department has created special teams for each police station area. Selling illegal liquor can result in up to three years of imprisonment under the Rajasthan Excise Act, 1950. Holograms on bottles will help distinguish between legal and illegal liquor.

License Fees

For home parties, the license fee is Rs 2,000/-. For commercial venues like gardens or halls, the fee is Rs 12,000/-. Additionally, first-time applicants for commercial licenses must pay a registration fee of Rs 20,000/-, bringing the total to Rs 32,000/-. Renewal applicants do not need to pay the registration fee. Having an occasional license protects hosts from any action by the police or the Excise Department for serving alcohol at their parties.
