Residents of New Mahaveer Nagar, located in Hiran Magri Sector-4, are facing significant difficulties due to the poor condition of the road outside the Mahaviram Apartment. In July, excavation was carried out for a sewer line, but since the work was completed, the road has been left in disrepair.
This road is important as it connects the apartment to Kumbhanagar, Mahaveer Nagar, and nearby colonies and markets. Gravel has come loose in several areas, causing dust to fly, and the sewer covers have risen above the surface. This situation has made daily travel challenging for thousands of people.
Residents Demand Action
Dr. Hitesh Kudhal noted that the excavation led to major commuting problems, especially during the rains when several buses got stuck in the potholes. Local representatives assured residents that repairs would be made soon, but this has not happened. Despite multiple complaints to the local councilor and administration, there has been no solid action. Residents requested repairs before Diwali, but even after the festival, the road remains unrepaired.
Calls for Equality in Road Repairs
While other roads in the city have received patchwork repairs, the road near Mahaviram Apartment has been neglected. Residents feel that there is discrimination in how road repairs are handled. They believe that the municipal corporation or the relevant agency should be responsible for filling the excavated area and constructing a proper road.
If the road is not paved soon, residents have said that they will initiate protests and demonstrations to demand immediate action.
