Maharana Bhopal Hospital, Udaipur has become the first medical college affiliated government hospital not only in Rajasthan, but also in North India to get assessed and certified by NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Health Care Providers) pre-Accreditation Entry level hospital program for its services.

The certificate was awarded on 10 August 2023.

Dr. Vipin Mathur, the Principal of Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College, Udaipur said that the assessment process by NABH team began way back in July 2022.

For MB Hospital, this certification signifies its commitment to create a culture of quality, patient safety, efficiency and accountability towards patients. It lays emphasis on protocols and policies as per national/international standards for patient care, medication management, consent process, patient safety, clinical outcomes, medical records, infection control and staffing. Accreditation to a health care organisation stimulates continuous improvement and monitoring of the services of the  health care providing institution. Feedback from patients is sought and complaints (if any) are addressed and there is a commitment to prevent adverse events that may occur.

"Udaipur's MB hospital has became the first government Medical College affiliated hospital to get the Entry level certification from NABH, which is the biggest constituent board of Quality Council of India (QCI), set up to establish and operate accreditation programme for healthcare organizations. We began our efforts on 18 July 2022, which was the first time when we have got our hospital assessed from NABH. We have cleared the first level assessment and after that a physical assessment was done by the team of the Board." - MB Hospital Superintendent Dr.R.L Suman

Dr.Suman said that accreditation certification means quality certification, where the quality of the hospital's patient management is being assessed. Not only quality management of patients, but also their safety measures and safety measures for the hospital staff was assessed.

Dr.Suman further said that the team laid emphasis that the hospital should be paitent centric, importance should be given to the solution of the problems of the patients. He added that patient treatment both at OPD or IPD or be it any other parameter, MB Hospital has fulfilled all the parameters of NABH.

The Union Government selected 12 medical colleges of the the country under the accreditation program of which two were from Rajasthan - MB Hospital Udaipur and Medical College Government Hospital Ajmer. Udaipur's MB Hospital fulfilled all the requirements of the NABH and qualified for the Entry Level Certification of NABH, which was handed over to Dr. RL Suman on Thursday, 10 August 2023.
