RTO(Regional Transport Office) is going online from 6^th June. Udaipur and Kota offices will be directly connected online with the headquarters. Software version 1.0 which is going on since 2010 will now be replaced with “Vahan 4.0”.

The speciality of “Vahan 4.0” is that as soon as engine number and chassis number of a vehicle is fed into the system; it will generate all relevant details about that particular vehicle. It will also give the details of the manufacturing company with the year and place of manufacture. Authorised dealers will be able to register the vehicles online but will not have a free hand in allotting registration numbers as per consumers’ demands.

Joint Director RTO Sanjay Singhal issued orders for the RTO to be opened on 3^rd June and 4^th June i.e. Saturday and Sunday to update the necessary software. The office will not be providing registrations this Monday and will remain closed. It will be a very challenging task for the authorised dealers and vehicle owners to have their pending registrations done before the commencement of this new online service. The new software might not accept the pending tasks and is likely to overwrite the old tasks. Regarding this DTO Sharma said that the office will remain opened on Saturday 27^th May and Sunday 28^th May to clear up the pending work load.

33 authorised dealers will be connected online

DTO Rajkumar Sharma also said that vehicle showrooms, supplying agencies and the concerned transport departments will all be connected online. 33 authorized dealers will be given their user-id and password. Dealers will provide information of new vehicles and the buyers online to the head offices. This way they will not be required to provide any additional data with the soft copies.
