The winter arrangements at Sajjangarh Biological Park are carefully designed to provide comfort and protection to the animals during the colder months. These seasonal changes, including adjustments to diets and living conditions, are crucial for maintaining the health and well-being of the wildlife.
To protect the animals from the cold, curtains have been installed in the holding areas. Heaters and blowers are being arranged to keep them warm. Additionally, grass is being laid on the ground to prevent the cold from reaching the animals. Sand has also been spread in the ponds of gharials and crocodiles, so they can relax in the warmth of the sunlight.
The big cats, like lions, are now being given more meat and multivitamins. Bears, which previously enjoyed fruit ice cream in the summer, now receive milk, eggs, jaggery, and porridge. Herbivores, such as the deer, are being fed carrots, rock salt, jaggery, and other nutritious items. However, there is a shortage of carrots at the moment.
Shield for Birds
At Gulab Bagh Bird Park, plastic boards have been installed to shield the birds from the chilly weather. These seasonal adjustments, which start in November, ensure that the wildlife remains comfortable and healthy throughout the winter season.
