Technical Issues Hinder Urban Development and Housing Services in Udaipur

This ongoing technical debacle has underscored the urgent need for streamlined digital infrastructure to ensure efficient public service delivery

The Urban Development and Housing Department (UDH) in Udaipur has been grappling with technical glitches in its online service system for over two months. This has severely hindered the issuance of crucial documents such as freehold holding certificates (leases) and mutation certificates from the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) website.

Document Issues

In these documents, users have reported the complete absence of Hindi fonts, replaced instead by small black boxes. This printing anomaly has rendered the documents illegible and unusable, depriving applicants of essential details.

Efforts and Complaints

Despite numerous emails and formal complaints filed at higher levels, the UDH has failed to resolve the ongoing issue. The problem has not only affected Udaipur residents but has also surfaced as a widespread concern across the entire state, highlighting systemic flaws in urban services.

Volume of Requests

In Udaipur Development Authority (UDA), over 1,000 mutation requests and more than 100 lease demands are processed monthly. Despite people paying fees to the government, delays in issuing accurate certificates have led many to file written complaints with the UDA Commissioner and other senior officials.

Digital Processing

When you apply through e-Mitra or online, UDA gets your application. They send it to the right section to check costs. An official asks for fees, approved by the OCI (Income Tax Commissioner's Office). After you pay, it goes back to OCI for certificate prep. OCI signs digitally, which sometimes changes the font.

This ongoing technical debacle has underscored the urgent need for streamlined digital infrastructure to ensure efficient public service delivery in urban development across Rajasthan.
