Got a cow, get her an Aadhar like Unique Identification Number. This is what the Government proposed to Supreme Court today. Government proposed an Aadhar like Unique Identification for all cows in India.
ANI tweeted about the Government report submitted to Supreme court that said “Each cow and its progency across India should get a Unique Identification Number”. The Government also recommended provision of special care for cattle that go beyond the age of milking.
In its report, Centre also highlighted issues around cow protection and tackling issues of cattle smuggling along India-Bangladesh border.
Economic Times reported that animal husbandary department had assigned technical staff for fixing tags with 12 digit unique identification number inside ears of cow. One lakh technicians, armed with 50,0000 tablets are on a mission of fixing polyurethane tags with tag applicators on the ears of cattle. After fixing tags, technicians will use tablets for updating number in online database. This will help in tracking cattles along with relevant details.
