The city of lakes is appallingly charged for female feticide, dowry deaths and much anti-female bigotry. Slapping all the mistreatment of women in this socially crunched society, Udaipur females have often set examples by conquering the male dominated fields.
Miti Godawat is another example of a courageous, enthusiastic and prevailing young lady of Udaipur who successfully completed her professional pilot training course from Canada and returning back to Udaipur soon.
After 2 years of training and living alone in a foreign land, this 20-year-old Udaipur Girl has already made her parents, relatives, friends and all Udaipurites proud of her achievement.
Miti has not only made her dream of becoming an aircraft pilot true, but has also become the 2nd female pilot of Udaipur, next to her school mate Annie Taldar, who completed her piloting few months back from Pune.
In an email conversation with UdaipurTimes.com, Miti shared her good-bad and adventurous experience while learning to fly aircraft from Vancouver’s Professional Flight Training Centre where she enrolled just after completing her schooling from The Study, Udaipur.
“In these two years I am changed to a completely different personality and all credit goes to my father Surendra Godawat who turned my dream into reality”, says Miti.
While undergoing training, Miti have flown around 4 different types of airplanes, namely Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Piper Cheorkee Warrior and Diamond Catana. “I can say now: flying is much easier than driving a car” exclaimed the cheerful Miti.
A small town girl when landed in a different world with dreams in her eyes, she has also left behind all the boundaries of this socially inclined city, with not only a dream to accomplish but also load of responsibilities on her shoulder.
“It was a big cultural change for me, moreover being a girl that too living alone in a different country compelled me to struggle hard”, said Miti. “I must say belonging from a slow moving town of Udaipur and adapting to the fast life here, I tried to stand with them.”
She expressed “Because of the high moral values injected since childhood, I aimed to make my country proud and not let anyone a chance to look down upon me, my perspective towards life reformed throughout my stay in Canada.”
Talking about the challenging situation she ever encountered in training, Miti told UdaipurTimes.com
“I was flying a new aircraft to some new airport and on my way back I noticed that the fuel pressure light which highlights that fuel pressure is correct suddenly went off.
I tried to fix it following the procedure but it decided to get worst and my engine started making all sorts of noises and started to run rough. The engine stopped finally and that time I had to make an emergency landing.
Luckily at that time, I had an airport in my vicinity so I had to make a ‘Mayday’ call and safely landed.
From that day my confidence level just boosted up to its heights, being a girl alone in a strange area and I didn’t panic at all, I saved myself and my aircraft too. I got appreciation from all my instructors and seniors.”
The entire team of UT congratulates Miti Godawat and wishes her a bright and safe future!
