Good Engineer Also Needs to be a Good Manager: Ankit Agrawal, GITSGeetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, popularly known as GITS and Geetanjali Medical Hospital (now a part of Geetanjali University) are the two well-known establishments of Udaipur, where Ankit Agrawal is acting as the Director of Operations.

Ankit, in his early Thirties and son of the iconic J.P Agrawal is an example of the young task force of Udaipur who has taken the baton of development initiated by their predecessors in their hands.

A pass out of St. Paul’s Senior Secondary School, one of the premier education institutes of Udaipur, Ankit did his graduation and post-graduation from the United States and UK.

In his exclusive talk with UdaipurTimes.com, Ankit explained how he visualized the growth and development of the institute whose reigns he has taken into his hands.

Here are the excerpts from the interview with Ankit Agrawal.

How Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital is positioning itself as a premier healthcare education and service provider

The college and hospital are in a continuous process of inducting the best of infrastructure services, equipment, teachers and doctors, to pursue the group’s commitment to quality.

Training and exposure to latest technologies is being provided to each of the students. The institute also welcomes qualified doctors, who for the want of better exposure pursued their Masters from outside the city and country.

We are providing the best of research infrastructure and our MBBS is ranked number one in the state of Rajasthan. We welcome those doctors who are looking at moving back to Udaipur from foreign locations, as our institute, both the college and hospital is providing the best in infrastructure.

Facilities at both the college and hospital are being regularly monitored for betterment. The faculty at the college is picked through a very stringent selection process. The students are given the best of laboratory facilities.

How the residents of Udaipur and around the city are being educated about the facilities available in GMCH.

Hospital is doing regular seminars, workshops and road shows, thereby education residents that most of the facilities are being made available at GMCH and now they need not look beyond the city for the purpose of accessing better medical facilities.

What is your perception on the Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, GITS

The management’s vision at GITS is to provide quality education to the students. The intake within the institute has been satisfactory till date, the training and summer placements have touched 100% in all the years and final job placement have been secured for all the passing out students of the institute, through campus placement itself.

What is your vision of GITS

The aim is to provide limited courses in Engineering (Graduation and Post-Graduation) along with MBA. It is better to focus on limited courses and deliver them in a quality manner rather than have all sorts of courses under the sun within one institute, making the management ineffective, resulting in a compromise with the quality of pedagogy and knowledge delivery.

The institute envisions providing good education to the weaker strata of society, especially the tribal areas of the state.

GITS and GMCH are both working on inducting deserving students from these regions and sections, and laying emphasis on providing education to them at affordable costs. With a developed infrastructure, tie-ups with well-known technology service providers across the country, the institute is in a position to define superiority in education delivery.

The Institute is offering Engineering degrees. Along with this it is now offering a combined course which envelopes engineering with Management, What is your perspective behind this?

A good engineer also needs to be a good manager. As with GMCH and in line with mission and vision of delivering quality, the students are given mandatory training and exposure on latest technologies in the market, so that along with strengthening their fundamentals, they are also market savvy and their bio-data is industry friendly. This has resulted in a very good summer and final placement percentage for the institute.
