It is a coincidence that all the five players nominated are also going to participate in their first Olympic Games. NRAI Secretary, General Sultan Singh said after the meeting that there was tough competition for the Olympics and things could have changed if some shooters had won medals in the recently concluded Lonato World Cup. He added that the selectin committe believes that we have the best shotgun team, which has won the most medals ever for India and there is definitely a strong possibility of getting a second Olympic medal this time. He informed that the name of women Trap Shooter Shreyasi Singh was also approved by the committee and NRAI had written to ISSF (International Shooting Sports Body) for quota swapping. In this situation, her name can be finalised only after getting the necessary approval from ISSF.
