TESA Procedure:
TESA (testicular sperm aspiration), which is performed by sticking a needle in the testis and aspirating fluid and tissue with negative pressure. It is a procedure performed for men who are having sperm retrieved for in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI). It is done with local anesthesia in the operating room and is coordinated with their female partner’s egg retrieval.
Obstructive Azoospermia:
Obstructive azoospermia refers to no sperm in a man’s semen, as a result from problems with sperm delivery. Problems with the ductal system or issues with ejaculation can cause obstructive azoospermia. The ducts can be missing, or blocked, or the man could have an absence of the vas deferens, the tube that transports sperm for ejaculation.
