Hanuman Jayanti, marking the birth of Lord Hanuman was celebrated in Udaipur amidst affection and bliss. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the Shukla Paksha, during the month of Chaitra.
The idols of Lord Hanuman in different temples of Udiapur were decorated with Shringaar and religious rituals began from early morning. A Shobhayatra was also carried out to mark the auspicious occasion where tableau of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman, Lord Hanuman could be seen. A huge turban was also a part of the special offerings to Lord Hanuman today.
Devotees were seen flocking to temples offering Prasaad and Rose Garlands to Lord Hanuman. Also, this year co-incidentally Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated on a lunar eclipse day. From late afternoon, Lord Hanuman idols were put in drapes and the Shringaar was done after the sighting of moon later in the evening.
Chappan Bhog (feast with 56 items of sweets and food), boxes of Ghee, Roatt (Chapatti prepared with Jaggery) and Ladoo were offered at temples by the devotees.
The religious recital of Sunderkand Path and Raatri Jaagran will continue till late night.
