Reunions after decades sets the momentum for regular getaways….this perspective was consolidated by the St Pauls school batch of 1982.
After a three decade hiatus, students of 1982 batch came together during the Independence day holidays in 2017. The camaraderie equation during this meet created a need for further meetings, and getting together more and more classmates, since a few tend to miss out owing to personal and professional commitments as well as travel.
The batch of 1982 came together once again on 24-25 August, a year the last reunion. None felt any older. Pramod Kunder (Bunny), a student of the 1982 batch made special efforts to get this one going. His efforts were complemented with those of Piyush Mehta and a few others including Liaquate Qutub and few who were present in Udaipur.
1982 batch of St Pauls has a rich mix of professionals – businessmen, Doctors, Engineers, Civil servants, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, etc.
A few of the batchmates sadly passed away, and a condolence meeting was held for them. Overcoming the loss, the members present at this reunion spent a cool 48 hours in fun activity comprising of songs, qawwali and shayari sessions….not to mention the carefree and soulful moments, at the Jhadol Safari Resort (they seem to have fallen in love with this place).
The members included Pramod Kunder (Bunny), Piyush Mehta, Anil Bhandari (bittoo), Mukhrit Verma, Pankaj Mishra, Zarir Contractor,Liaquate Qutub, Prabhu Lal Sharma, Rakesh Karanpuria, Kamal Jeet Singh, Anurag Mathur, Subhash Razak, Arun Sharma, Rameshwar Jethi, Dinesh Vanvaria, Prakash Hemnani, Kedar Singh, Nirbhay Verma, Yogesh Choudhary, Praveen Dungerwal, and Mahesh Chauhan. Father Coutinho was remembered by the group as educationist having great impact on the lives of these students. All agreed that they have not witnessed such an all rounder school head in their lives, with all the vast and multi regional experience of the lot.
As a gesture, Kamaljeet Singh gave mementoes to each of the participants at this meet. Rain added the much needed splash to the neat glasses.
Another St Paul reunion is set to happen in a few days from now, in a unique manner and in pristine surroundings.Blog contributed by Liaquate Hussain Qutub, St Pauls, 1982
