Apprehensions of a below average monsoon this year have been put to rest as the City of Lakes is ripe once again. With rain showers coming in off and on in drizzle as well as momentary downpours over the last couple of weeks, the parched lakes are blossoming again.
Water levels at Fatehsagar touched a new monsoon high of 10.5ft today with the water coming in from Picchola earlier on and then from Madar. Today, the water levels at Swaroop Sagar have reached over flow levels and the authorities are getting ready to open the gates. On the other end, with Madar showing promise over the week, the water flow in the catchment area and Bada Madar lake were also substantially heavy. Pictures from 29 August, 5PM:
