Pankaj Sharma calls on PM to instruct his leaders to act responsibly and with decorum
Pankaj Kumar Sharma, General Secretary and spokesperson of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, has strongly condemned the recent ‘objectionable’ remarks made against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. In his statement, Sharma expressed deep regret, saying it is highly unfortunate that whenever Gandhi raises his voice on important national issues, senior leaders of the ruling party resort to offensive and baseless rhetoric against him.
Sharma stated that the personal remarks by these leaders against Gandhi are not only against the decorum of political discourse but also degrade the level of our democratic dialogue.
Sharma noted that during Gandhi's recent visit to the United States, the latter spoke about the unity of the country, social harmony and the rights of the people. He highlighted the challenges facing India and opposed the politics of arrogance and hatred. However, Sharma said, leaders of the ruling party distorted his constructive and positive perspective and made derogatory statements to divert the attention of the public.
Sharma added that such objectionable remarks are against the values and norms of democracy.
He urged Prime Minister Modi to instil discipline in his leaders and instruct them to act responsibly and with decorum, so that unity, brotherhood and peace prevail in the country.
