The multi-storey high effigy of Ravana, Kumbhakarana and Meghnath have reached Gandhi Ground for Vijayadashmi. Ravana dahan will be done in the evening of 30-September in a colorful program organized by Sanatan Dharm Seva Samiti and Baluchistan Sindhi Society of Udaipur.
Nanakram Kasturi of Society informed that Raavan’s height has been set at 65 feet this year whereas Kumbhakaran and Meghnath will be 60ft high. 15 artisans from Agra worked on the construction of the effigies in Shakti Nagar Community centre. The effigies were then transported and placed in Bhandari Darshak Mandap yesterday using camel carts and tractors. The effigies will be made to standup with the help of a crane.
Seva Samiti secretary Vijay Ahuja informed that they will also be erecting a 80 feet long and 10 feet high Lanka at Gandhi Ground.
There will be grand display of fireworks before the burning of the effigies. Jitendra Talreja of the Society informed that the procession will start at 3pm on Saturday at Sanatan Mandir in Shakti Nagar. The procession will pass from Baans gali, Surajpole control centre, Bapu bazaar, Delhi Gate, Ashwani Bazaar, Hathipole bahar and Chetak Circle before reaching stadium at 5:30 pm. Lanka burning is planned for 7:20pm.
