The revolt of farmers is taking an aggressive turn in Mandsaur. Following this, the farmers of Rajasthan have also declared a protest against government to have their demands fulfilled.
Rajasthan farmers have declared to hold a strike against the government. Bharatiya Kisan Sangh(Indian Farmers’ Union) have said that they will be organising a rally on 15th June to express their agitation against government. The agitation will continue until government gives in to the demands of the farmers. Praveen Singh Chouhan, Secretary of the Farmers Union in Chittorgarh, said this in a meeting in Balram Bhawan which is the office of Farmers Union. He revealed that this decision was taken in Jaipur in a session since the government doesn’t pay heed to needs of farmers.
Chouhan also said that farmers have to resort to such agitations to have their demands fulfilled. Government is moving at a very slow pace as a result of which the compensation for 2014-15 for destruction of crops due to natural calamities is yet to be given to the farmers. The farmers have given a number of reminders to the government which went unnoticed.
The demands of the farmers are:
- Special session of Vidhan Sabha for tackling problems of farmers.
- Providing electricity at a cheaper rate
- Banning GM Mustard seeds
- Providing adequate means of irrigation
- Buying the finished product on a reasonable price from the farmers
