Udaipur is set to have its own Science city along the lines of setups in Jodhpur, Jaipur and Jhalawar. The Science Centre will be constructed in the area behind Shilpgram at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 Cr. The centre will be constructed over an area of 6.4 Hectare in the area behind Shilpgram. UIT has already constructed a 18 meter wide road to facilitate movement. Work is expected to start from new year and will take 27 months for completion. Project Officer, Manish Jain, informed that blueprint for the entire setup is ready and the set up is being designed along the lines of Jaipur science city. The centre will have 7-D movie theatre and MP theatre. Via these theatres, science lovers will be able to unravel mysteries related to space, forest, nature etc. As part of entertainment, fun science galleries employing principles of mathematics, computer science, IT, biology, chemistry etc will also be setup. There will also be outdoor facilities to give kids preliminary knowledge about scientific working related to water, astronomy, scientific principles etc. UIT will contribute Rs 5 Cr towards the project with State Government and NCSM contributing Rs 2.5 Cr.
