Udaipur is one of the five railway stations in the State where Indian Railways has planned to set up selfie-points. Railways has come up with this move to prevent people from being crushed to death on railway tracks while taking selfies.
About 70 stations have been identified across the country to have these selfie points with 5 of them being in Rajasthan. Besides Udaipur, the other stations in Rajasthan to have selfie points are Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Gandhinagar.
Work is expected to be completed on this by December 2018.
This moves comes on back of data with Indian Railways that shows that atleast 7 people have been killed taking selfies across the country.
While the selfie points are currently being set up at 70 stations, the second phase will include all A1 and A stations.
As per railways officials in Rajasthan, most probably these selfie points will come up on Platform No 1, either near foot overbridge or some other safe area.
