The Shiv Ganesh temple situated at Surajpol on Thursday night was targeted by thieves who took away cash from one of the donation boxes. Both the accused were caught in the Close Circuit camera installed at one of the neighboring shops, but more surprising fact is that the temple was situated only at a distance of 50 meters from the area’s police station.
On Friday morning when one of the local shop keepers Lokesh Jain went at the temple to unlock its gates, found the temple ransacked and money stolen from one of the 2 donation boxes kept at the temple. As a routine, he used to unlock the temple in the morning, said police.
Lokesh informed the president of the temple association Om Prakash about the theft who along with the priest lodged a police complaint against unknown accused.
The team of Surajpol police reached the crime scene and verified it before starting the investigation. They collected the CCTV footage where two men entering the temple premises was recorded.
