Thrill spread as the sun set over scenic Shikarbadi on 14^th June to witness Udaipur’s first ever 5 a Side Futta Tournament.  Out of Ten selected teams, Eight appeared on the grounds yesterday at 7 pm with the opening ceremony being Presided over by Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar.

Ravi Panwar XI, Udaipur Strykers, Mayo Nostalgia and Mewar FC emerged as the Day 1 champions.

St. Pauls, Pacific Dental College, Cerebrata and Hotel Rajdarshan that bowed out of the tournament at the end of the first days matches.

The summary of each match

Ravi Panwar XI vs. St. Paul’s School:  4-1

RP-XI dominated the Paulian’s from the first half till the last few minutes of the match.  Pratyush striked two goals for RP-XI, while Kamran and Vikram bagged one goal each to announce a victorious opening to the Futta Tournament.

On behalf of St. Paul’s Syed Mairaz succeeded in striking one goal.

Udaipur Stryker vs Pacific Dental College:  2-1

One of the most exciting matches in the series, both teams played defensively till half time.  The game concluded with a tie breaker and the final decision was an outcome of the penalty shoot-out where Udaipur Strykers registered its win over Team Pacific.  Yash from Pacific made one goal for his team while Asif Iqbal and Apoorva of Udaipur Strykers struck one goal each.

Cerebrata vs Mayo Nostalgia:  0-1

Despite Mayo’s strong forward and defense, team Cerebrata continuously defended its prestige but the tough competition ended when Tejveer Singh of Mayo struck the victory goal.

Mewar FC vs Hotel Rajdarshan:  7-0

A completely one sided game, Mewar FC showered a series of unstoppable goals on Team Hotel Rajdarshan and came out as the unbeatables.  Mewar FC’s Ashish and Surendra struck two goals each while Mahendra, Shashwat and Subir Singh Rathore added one goal each.

Mayo Nostalgia and Mewar FC directly qualified to Semi-Finals which is to be played tonight while Ravi Panwar XI will fight against Chelsea FC and Rajputana FC will face Udaipur Strykers in their bid for the Semi Final slots.
