11 Medals for Udaipur Grapplers

Seven gold medals for the team in State-level Sub-Junior and Cadet Grappling Wrestling event in Ajmer

Udaipur, October 15, 2024 - In the recently-concluded State-level Sub-Junior and Cadet Grappling Wrestling competition in Ajmer, the team from Udaipur, under the guidance of coach Mangilal Salvi, won 11 medals including seven gold. The games were held on October 12 and 13.

According to Tushar Mehta, general secretary of the Udaipur District Grappling Wrestling Committee, Mewar's Jatin Patel won gold medals in both the Gi and No-Gi categories. Manthan Joshi won a gold and a silver while Kavya Jain bagged a gold and a bronze. Harsh Jain secured a bronze and a gold, Himanshu Verma won two silvers, Krishna Aswani claimed a silver and a gold, Krishna Chauhan won gold in both categories, and Jitendra Sen earned a silver and a bronze. Rajveer Salvi secured a bronze while in the Girls' category, Ria Aswani won two bronze medals in both Gi and No-Gi categories.

It should be noted that in the Gi category, players wear a judogi (judo uniform) while in the No-Gi category, players wear wrestling attire. With some rule changes the players try to take control of each other and score points.

The team was felicitated on its return to Udaipur by committee members Payal Mehta, Tara Lohar, and Kapil Tank.

Apart from this, two coaches of Udaipur team Devendra Singh and Mohd Ahad completed the official state referee course in grappling.
