Another lone house has been victimised in Udaipur city. A cloth merchant’s house was targeted by thieves on Wednesday evening. Cash and jewellery worth 40 lakh rupees were stolen from the house in Ashok Vihar Colony.
The owner Suresh Kodia was away to his shop in Sindhi Bazar where his wife joined him in the afternoon. After this, there was no one in the house for almost 4 and half hours. Kodia’s wife left for the shop around 3 p.m. There are 5 tenants though no one was present during the incident. 3 of these tenants had left for their native town 2 days back and the 4th and the 5th one left at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. respectively. There is a channel gate and a main door out of which the main door was locked. When Kodia couple returned home they found that the latch at the door was broken. When they entered the house, they found all belongings scattered here and there. The cupboards were broken open and cash and jewellery worth 40 lakh rupees were gone.
Police is suspecting that this theft has been committed by some known person who knew where the stuff was kept and who even knew about the exit door. There are no CCTV cameras in the area hence no clue could be obtained about the theft.
