Now immigration will be faster at Delhi airport...
Delhi Airport has become the first in India to implement the Government of India’s Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) for Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the programme by unveiling dedicated counters at Terminal 3 for TTP beneficiaries under 'Viksit Bharat at 2047' vision.
Terminal 3 at Delhi Airport is now equipped with 8 electronic gates (e-gates) 4 for arrivals and 4 for departures to facilitate a seamless experience for participants. The number of counters may increase based on demand.
This is just the beginning of a larger plan to introduce e-gates at major airports like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad. Eventually, more airports across India will also get e-gates.
Faster Immigration and Emigration
The initiative, launched on Saturday, June 22,2024 aims to reduce congestion by providing expedited emigration and immigration clearance for pre-verified travellers. Both arrivals and departures will benefit from this streamlined process.
What is FTI-TTP?
The FTI-TTP, an initiative by the Indian government, is designed to offer Indian nationals and OCI cardholders a faster, easier, and more secure travel experience. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Bureau of Immigration, developed the roadmap for the programme.
