North India is under the effect of extreme cold. Cold waves and fog have disrupted life to a great extent. Visibility in New Delhi has been affected immensely and fog has resulted in the delays and even cancellations of flights. The spine chilling winter is freezing body and brains and people are under a great risk from this extreme chill. Cold waves coming from North are constantly hitting Rajasthan along with other places in the country.
Flights got delayed on Monday as dense fog resulted in a very poor visibility. 5 flights coming from Delhi got delayed by 5 to 6 hours. Certain flights were cancelled as well. The flights leaving Delhi at 1:10 p.m. for Udaipur and the flight leaving Hyderabad at 1:20 p.m. for Udaipur were cancelled.
Delhi-Udaipur flight leaving at 5:45 a.m. could not take off before 11:40 a.m. and it landed here at 12:50 resulting in a 6 hour delay. The flight that leaves Delhi at 9:05 a.m. could reach Udaipur only at 2:45 a.m. The flight reaching Udaipur from Delhi reached at 5:48 p.m. as compared to its schedule of 2:25 p.m. The flight from Jaipur also got delayed by more than 3 hours.
It may be noted that 20 flights taking off from Indira Gandhi International airport were diverted and many cancelled.
