Udaipur, March 27, 2025 - The North Western Railway has introduced the Parcel Management System (PMS) at all 34 parcel offices to make the process of sending goods via railways more convenient. This system ensures easy booking, real-time tracking, and transparency in parcel transportation.
According to Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, the initiative follows the directions of General Manager Amitabh, who is committed to providing better and efficient services to railway users. The implementation of PMS simplifies the process of booking and tracking parcels, benefiting customers across the railway network.
The parcel booking process under the PMS is streamlined and transparent. Customers need to visit their nearest parcel office and fill out a forwarding note (form) with details of their goods. The parcel clerk enters this information into the system, weighs the parcel, and records the details. Once the process is complete, a receipt with a 10-digit PRR (Parcel Railway Receipt) number is generated. Customers also receive a confirmation message on their registered mobile number.
The Parcel Management System enables customers to track their parcels at every stage. They receive updates via SMS, including details about:
For further tracking, customers can visit the official website: https://parcel.indianrail.gov.in and enter their 10-digit PRR number to check the current status of their shipment.
The Parcel Management System has been implemented across all 34 parcel offices under the North Western Railway, covering major railway divisions
To promote cashless transactions, North Western Railway has equipped all parcel offices with QR codes and POS (Point of Sale) machines for seamless digital payments. This initiative enhances convenience for customers while ensuring a hassle-free payment process.
