Traveling is an exciting journey, and to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience, it is vital to plan in advance and take care of important tasks. IRCTC has launched a state-of-the-art solution set to transform the way passengers book their train seats. With each coach offering around 110 seats, travelers can select from a range of seating options. The sleeper coach seats are divided into five categories: lower berth, second middle berth, third upper berth, fourth side lower berth, and fifth side upper berth.

Verify Train Seat Availability Online

This advanced system utilizes color-coded indicators to categorize seats by their status, showing if they are reserved, available, or partially booked. With more than 120 diverse coach designs included, passengers can now conveniently see the seating setups across nine available classes on reserved trains.

Furthermore, when a second chart is released, passengers can check the most recent information on available berths shortly before the scheduled departure of the train, usually confirmed about 30 minutes beforehand. The system provides extensive information about available berths categorized by class and coach, derived from the initial train chart prepared four hours before departure.

To check the availability of seats on a train, follow the steps provided below:

  • The IRCTC website has introduced a new feature named 'Charts/Vacancy View'.
  • You need to input journey details, such as train number, travel date, and boarding station.
  • Click on "Get Train Chart" to access the Reservation Chart, which displays information about the seats that are available.
  • Afterward, you can check the number of available seats sorted by class and coach.
  • You can select a specific coach to see its layout and verify the availability of berths.
