Miscreants were in action on June 5 in the hills near Badi Lake. A group of people spray painted rocks on hillsides near Badi Lake at Udaipur, with messages that created an unwarranted agony to the beauty of the natural surroundings in the area.
The photos of the dirtied rocks were highlighted on Instagra, by Himanshu Porwal of Udaipur on the same day. A couple of days later, on June 7, Devika Sisodia – free lance writer, poet and voice over artist from Udaipur, took up the initiative to clean the rocks off the paint.
She took support from Social media and through InstaUdaipur and other social handles got together 20 like minded youth of the city. This group went to the site in the simmering heat of the hottest summer week and took along thinner, cloth, scrubbers and surface cleaners and worked nearly two hours to clean the rocks to the best they could. Hats off to them!!
Gazal Jain, Saurabh Patwari, Aayush Devpura, Sanjit Chohan, Shubham Kothari, Shubham Dangi, Shubham, Himanshu, Parth, Devika and others took part in the initiative and revamped the area.
Residents who observe such mess around the city, can use #CleanTheMessUp on the social handles to highlight places which need cleaning. This can be done easily with contribution from youth. It is a drive to bring awareness in people to be responsible and be change makers for Udaipur.
