Udaipur kid, AlAkmar, won the Gold medal in the 10-12 year age category in the 2nd WFSKO Asian International Karate Championship held in Mumbai. AlAkmar decimated his opponent from Bhutan in the final to win the Gold medal.
What makes AlAkmar’s achievement even more prolific is that this 10 year old kid was aged on the lower side of the 10-12 year old group meaning that he was at a disadvantage to most of his competitors. But his superior technique and immense practice proved too much for his opponents.
AlAkmar is a student of 4th grade in St. Paul’s Sr Sec School. He undertook karate training at Marco’s Martial Arts. His proud father Zahid Barodawala informed that AlAkmar used to go to Marco’s Martial Arts to drop his sister who was practising self-defence techniques there. Witnessing the activities there, AlAkmar got interested in the sport and joined the centre.
“AlAkmar has made all of us proud with his achievement. This is a result of a lot of hardwork, practice, discipline and dedication. We hope that he will soon represent India at much higher levels and will bring laurels to the country”, said Zahid.
Zahid further informed that though managing sport with studies was a challenge but Alakmar ensured that he did not let sports succeed at cost of studies. He is as meticulous with his studies as he is with his sport.
With this achievement, AlAkmar has not only made his parents proud, but also Udaipur, Rajasthan and India. Bravo, young boy!
