After 10 days of Shilpgram Festival and New Year Celebrations, city of lakes has started preparing for an international event of flying kites. The event has its own importance as it would make the cultures intermingle and flew high.

The International Kite Festival would start from 5th and it would end on 7th January. The venue is ‘Maharana Bhopal Stadium’. Udaipurites also know that as ‘Gandhi Ground’. 6 Reasons Why Kite Festival in Udaipur Might Fail

The venue of this event was to be Railway Training ground but due to some unavoidable   reasons, ‘Maharana Bhopal Stadium’ is finalized.

However, due arrangements have been made at the location with facilities for spectators and participants but some local kite flyers are not happy with the location and they are expecting it to be an unfortunate failure. They pointed general and technical reasons to prove their points.

Here are 6 reasons, “why International Kite Festival Might Fail in Udaipur?.”

1)      ‘Maharana Bhopal Stadium’ is surrounded by high walls and mobile towers. High walls tend wind to revolve in a cyclic pattern making uncomfortable flying of kites, while mobile towers can become annoying hurdles for the kites.

2)      Apart technicality of cyclic winds, if wind direction would face stadium building, it will create obstacle for the kite flyers to manage.

3)      Location is too small to host an international event, where more than 200 kite flyers would be participating plus managing the crowd.

4)      Installation of food stalls in the ground will create more conjunction for the participants.

5)      Decided time for festival is not ideal for the city, as there are very few tourists in the city due to road-rail blockage by Gurjars and off season being started after holidays.

6)      Lack of publicity by the authorities, banners and hording which were to be placed a week before were placed just two days prior to the event, moreover some banners does not have any location mentioned.

Indeed we expect and wish for a grand success of this event, we don’t want to see even a dot of bad image of our city in any condition. But we also feel responsible and secure rights of our freedom of expressions. Let’s look forward for this upcoming event of kite flying where Udaipur will play host to many nations.
