Environment Week Udaipur: Photo Exhibition
This year an entire week will be celebrated as Environment Week starting right from 1st of June 2010.In Udaipur also Ministry of Environment and Forests is celebrating it in collaboration of Western Zone Cultural.
It is human tendency that we forgot the things after seeing them for once in a while. Similar problem was faced by Ministry of Environment and Forests which celebrated World Environment Day on 5th of June every year. Many activities like fairs, competitions and Dramas are organized to create Environment awareness among citizens but they found that not much impact is created in one day so this year an entire week will be celebrated as Environment Week starting right from 1st of June 2010. In Udaipur also Ministry of Environment and Forests is celebrating it in collaboration of Western Zone Cultural Center. It was inaugurated on 1 June 2010 at Suchna Kendra, Chetak Circle by Mrs. Rajni Dangi, chairperson of Municipal Corporation of Udaipur. In the inaugural function stage was shared by Dr. N.C. Jain Chief Forest Conservator Udaipur. He presented the vision behind this initiative “the rate at which human race is consuming resources, we will need three more planets like earth to support life.” “Our aim is to spread the message of conservation of environment to every citizen of this unique and beautiful city Udaipur.”” As our city was ranked 262nd in ranking of Urban Development Ministry declaring emergency and suggested for immediate action”.
He shared that in coming week a Photo and Poster exhibition is opened displaying the work of environment warrior Mr. Mahesh Sharma who has humanitarian view among all environmentalists. His photographs clearly reflect the ways in which the citizens of lakecity are polluting the pride of Udaipur, its lakes. Mr Sharma’s photographs are real Eye Openers. Even Mrs Dangi was stunned to see the facts stated in them and called it embarrassing on part of administration and citizens.
Second master photo artist is nationally renowned Mr Dinesh Pagaria, who clicks all picturesque moments. A collection of his wildlife snaps is displayed in this exhibition which is sure eye candy kind of thing. Every picture speaks for itself.
Photography Exhibition is continued up to 4th of June its timings are 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. everyday these experts will teach tips and tricks of photography to anxious visitors.
In the same sequence of events every morning a 30 minutes bicycle rally is organized from Suchna Kendra, Chetak Circle (Information Center, Chetak Circle) to different gardens/venues like Saheliyon ki Bari, Fateh Sagar Lake, Sukhadia Memorial and Gulab Bagh.
Every Day cycle rally will be followed by a 30 minutes long Drama or street theater directed by famous theater and mime artist Mr. Vilas Janve.
Dr N.C. Jain also invited Mrs. Dangi to ride in Bicycle rally on a amusing note to which she answered that she will be trying her level best. He further continued that by this rally they are trying to make people realize that living in simplicity is also pleasant and helps in conservation of environment that is going to help us sustain life for many more years to come. He told in all these programs plastic and poly ethane products will be strictly boycotted and same message will be passed on to general mass. On 5th June the week will end with three different activities. Just after the street theater a drawing competition will be held at Lotan Magari, Gulab bagh asking the participants to paint the city of future, their surroundings in such a manner which may prompt for immediate adoption of protective measures. Experts will then give valuable comments to all participants.
The week will finally come to an end with a Cultural Evening ‘Moriya Aacho Bolyo’ at Railway Training School Auditorium 6:30 p.m. onwards.
In her inaugural speech Mrs. Dangi said that to accomplish this mammoth task of environment conservation and beauty of city civil participation is as much as necessary as the administrative participation. She emphasized on lake conservation program and asked Udaipurites to form open discussion forums. She concluded by agreement with Dr. Jain’s view of discarding poly ethane products like bags and pouches and called it worst enemy of environment.
