Yesterday’s tragic and shocking road accident took the entire city into a gloomy scenario.  Although this is not something new, yet time and again we are reminded to bear in mind those life’s essential lessons caused by the road mishap in Udaipur.  As we pray for the souls of those three young boys, may they all rest in peace as their family continue to mourn and lament in deep sorrow and anguish.  Three precious lives had been once again sacrificed and poor blood had been shed due to various negligence that we commit being unaware or intentionally.

A lot of lessons can be drawn from that pitiful accident yesterday. First let’s be more conscious that we always drive safely. Had the bus driver and the scooter’s driver were keen enough in driving carefully, that sad accident could have surely been avoided.  Obviously, we are very negligent and carefree if not careless drivers.  We think we own the streets!!! We are not very careful in terms of driving safely otherwise, we could have saved those lives of the three young boys whose dreams are now gone with their lost lives.

Secondly, let us wear head gears or helmets all the time.  No matter what, this should always be worn in driving scooters or any motorcycle.  Those head support are designed to protect us from death just in case we meet an accident by the road.  Let’s remind each other to wear this very vital gear every time we go out of the house with our scooter or motor vehicles.

Third, let us not practice over-loading while riding our scooters. There is always a great risk of losing control and balance while driving.  Once the scooter is overloaded the driver will have a tendency to feel uncomfortable while driving, thus there will be a greater chance of meeting an accident.

Fourthly, let’s be very conscious of the weather and the slippery road. If it rains then surely the road will not be a very safe place to travel through a scooter or any vehicle, whatsoever.  Hence, we must drive a little slower than usual. If we think we need to hurry up in driving may be because we need to catch up a very important appointment, and then think twice before driving fast.  Our lives are more precious than any other emergency commitments that we need to catch up.  People will eventually understand if we get late lest we risk in losing our lives if we hurry up by driving fast while the road is wet and slippery.

Lastly, don’t drive when you’re tipsy or drunk, lest you will be running your way to the next life.  Don’t text as well while driving nor do other irrelevant things like looking at passersby while driving.  Let’s focus instead only with driving.  No more any less.

Moreover, the bus driver who is certainly responsible for that fateful incident yesterday should be reminded to be very extra careful indeed while driving.  This goes to all bus drivers as well and any car drivers, you must have a 100% attention and focus while driving.  You must see to it that you are swift in stepping the break if cases such as yesterday may happen to you while driving in the road.  All drivers therefore without exception must drive safely at all times to avoid road accident, hurting oneself and others on the road.
