The Dark Knight Rises (TDKR), the last movie in the epic Dark Knight Trilogy directed by one of the most honest storytellers of our generation, Christopher Nolan is all set to release Nation-Wide in 2D Theaters and IMAX on the 20^th of July.

One of the most anticipated movies of the summer, TDKR has a lot to live up after the very high benchmark The Dark Knight (2008) set for it. And with this notion comes the very important question, Is it worth the hype? Or it will be like Spider Man 3 or a complete downfall like The Matrix Revolutions?

The movie timeline is set 8 years after The Dark Knight movie. Since the death of Harvey Dent a.k.a Two Face, there has been no sightings of the caped crusader and people blame him for Harvey’s death. No one except Commissioner Gordon, Alfred and I’m hoping Lucius is aware of what really happened the night Joker was caught. Gotham is now relying on the so-called Gotham’s Finest (GPD).

The movie is anticipated to show the ‘Rise’ of Batman after the city is in danger of being reduced to ‘Ashes’ by the ruthless attacks of the masked terrorist Bane. Bane, the first physically and mentally equal of Batman himself in the Nolan’s trilogy believes in causing pain to the helpless. The character of Bane sounds a lot like Ra’s Al Ghul (Batman Begins), as he also believed in burning down Gotham for the city had crossed it’s limits of crime and injustice.

The movie also has some new additions, the role of Selina Kyle a.k.a Catwoman, John Blake and Miranda Tate. This movie will be presenting an ensemble of the best actors in the film business.

As Nolan said, all the three movies in the Dark Knight trilogy have a theme, Batman Begins was ‘Fear’, The Dark Knight was ‘Chaos’ and The Dark Knight Rises will be ‘Pain’. He certainly justifies the Fear and Chaos part in the earlier movies and as a cinephile I have full faith in him delivering the Pain factor in TDKR.

Nolan, who shuns 3D, has directed some of the most awe-inspiring movies in the last decade. Beginning with Memento (2000), a story told backwards in a very vivid sense then moving to The Prestige (2006), a brilliant movie and then 2010’s biggest adventure movie, Inception. His Dark Knight trilogy began with the very same Batman story told by many other directors before but at a scale never thought before with Batman Begins (2005). Nolan’s Batman played by Christian Bale is a lot more real to me than any other Batman in the past. And in 2008, he gave a lifetime best performance as a director in the penultimate edition in his batman trilogy The Dark Knight, the best and the most detailed Batman movie ever.

So the movie that has been talked about in almost every movie centric media possible is definitely worth waiting for. Watch it because Nolan has been consistent in delivering his best in these movies. Watch it because the movie’s production has been stretched from US till India. Watch it because it has the most amazing cast and a solid backstory.

5 Things to look for in TDKR

1. Hans Zimmer’s Soundtrack.

We can expect no less from the genius music producer who has given the score to over a 100 movies.

2. Mehrangarh Fort. Jodhpur.

Yes, the movie was shot in Jodhpur, India.

3. Anne Hathaway/Catwoman.

This bad cat is usually not on Batman’s side, but the trailers seem to be telling a different story. (Movie trailer DO lie)

4. The Bat.

One of the reason we all love batman is because of his fancy gadgets and the mind-blowing BatMobile, The Tumbler. Nolan will be revealing Batman’s personal flying car/plane, The Bat in TDKR. And as Fox says, “And yes Mr Wayne, it does come in black.”

5. The Kick Ass Action Sequences.

The biggest summer flick of the year that is 165 minutes long has got have some real action. And Nolan has shot most of the action sequences in IMAX. Fancy, isn’t it?
