Globalization has indeed made the world a smaller place to live in. But with the rising fleet of population, the earth will certainly prove too small to sustain the requisites of the people.

Presently, the population of the world is estimated to be 7 billion people and still counting. This estimation in fact should be seen as a threat to mankind because even now one third of the total population of the world is devoid of proper meals.

India is the 2^nd largest populated nation, but with the present stature, it might leave China behind in the upcoming 20-25 years.

Nonetheless, many attempts are being made in our country to curb this mounting issue but do we have a slightest idea of the outcome if they are actually implemented? Forget that. Have we ever pondered about the problems, that we, yes we, will face in the approaching years?

On this World Population Day, let us take a quick review of some of the tribulations that we might face due to the unregulated burst of populace.

Water that sustains and revels in the universality of every human being is getting scarce. The present situation pictures a dreadful scene that we ought to take an account of. Almost every continent is suffering from water scarcity.

In India itself, the ground water levels have gone down. The available sources of water are tainted and that has made farmers across our country vulnerable.

No water means no food. It is estimated that until 2050, 2 billion people would be added to the present figure that means we would need almost 70% more food to satiate ourselves.

In developing country like ours, the ratio might just grow double. To add the misery, food for the domestic animals will prove to be even more challenging.

Natural resources are on the verge of getting endangered. No doubt we can rely on non conventional sources like organic fuel but there is a limit to use them too. In the forthcoming years nuclear fuel would dominate the scene.

The situation is already grave in many countries. Disrupting the natural cycle will ultimately lead to our destruction only and it is high time we realize that.

Another term that everyone is accustomed to is Global Warming. According to the reports the glaciers in India are melting at a strong pace and hence pose a threat to the people whose livelihood depend on their respective rivers.

To sum it up, poverty, recession, inadequate land, pollution, decreasing health etc. are some of the evils that will swarm us definitely in the near future. All it needs is a little introspection in us. After all, there are a whole lot of our future generations that also deserve to view the wonderful earth that their antecedents have duly preserved for them.
