An American lady finisher her trip to India on a high after joint effort by ticket collector at Udaipur and Jaipur helped her get back her lost bag. Both the employees were felicitated by General Manager of North Western Railway for their efforts.
California based passenger, Shayada Homa travelled from Udaipur to Jaipur on Wednesday. She arrived at 1:30pm in Jaipur. In the evening, Homa realised that she had left one of her bags in train compartment. She immediately rushed to Jaipur railway station. There she was told that the train had already left for Udaipur.
Ravindra Sharma, a train ticket examiner (TTE) at Jaipur called up the Head Ticket Collector (HTC) office in Udaipur and narrated the entire incident to Karan Panwar, a TTE in Udaipur. Panwar was on duty then.
Thankfully, when the train reached Udaipur, the bag was in the same compartment and had not been touched by any other passenger. After securing the bag, Panwar then sent the bag back to Jaipur via Khajurao Express.
When the train reached Jaipur next day morning, Sharma immediately took the bag and rushed to airport since Homa had a flight at 9:30am. It was a race against time and the woman was all praise when she got the bag delivered to her at Jaipur airport.
Homa thanked Sharma for his gesture and said that this effort had made her trip memorable. Homa said that the bag had some handicrafts that she had bought for her mother and felt that her mother would appreciate all the efforts that had gone in getting the bag back.
