Udaipur, April 12, 2025 - After a week of enduring intense heat, the weather in the city suddenly changed yesterday, April 11. Although the afternoon sun remained strong, the weather eased up slightly. Winds helped temper the heat, leading to a drop of up to 4 degrees Celsius in both daytime and night-time temperatures over the past two days.

And around 2 am this morning, strong winds accompanied by lightning struck the region. Several areas in the district experienced light rain. The thunderstorm and strong winds also caused power outages in various parts of the city.

On April 12, parts of Udaipur, along with Ajmer, Kota, and Bharatpur divisions, is under alert for dust storms with wind speeds of 40-60 km/hour.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature yesterday, April 11, was recorded at 37°C, and the minimum at 23.1°C. A day earlier, on April 10, the maximum was 39.9°C and the minimum 24.6°C. This means there was a drop of 2.9°C in daytime temperature and 1.5°C at night. Over two days, the daytime temperature fell by 4.4°C and the night-time temperature by 4°C.

The shift in weather was seen across the State. The active western disturbance impacted nearly 20 districts. Thunderstorms with dusty winds blowing at speeds of 40-50 km/hour swept through several regions. In Bikaner and Hanumangarh, the afternoon turned unusually dark, followed by heavy rainfall.

Areas like Sri Ganganagar, Jaipur, Hanumangarh, Jodhpur, Sikar, Nagaur and Alwar experienced heavy winds followed by rain and hail in the afternoon. As a result, temperatures dropped by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. In Jaipur, around 5:30 pm, strong winds created a blanket of dust across the city.

According to the IMD, an active western disturbance over northern India was the main reason for the sudden change, with Friday seeing the peak of its impact.

From April 13, the weather is expected to remain dry. From April 14-15, temperatures will begin rising again in the south-western districts of Rajasthan. Many areas may experience temperatures above 45°C, accompanied by heatwave conditions. The extreme heat is expected to persist through the end of April.
