With the intense heat wave, there has been increase in number of snakes that are being spotted in residential areas. On a daily basis there is a rescue of 8-10 black snakes that is being carried out. The above information was given out by Padam Singh, Founder of Wild and Street Animal Rescue Society (WSARS). Padam Singh said that a large number of snakes that are being rescued these days belong to the cobra species and these are poisonous in nature. Padam Singh informed that these snakes seek out cold places in the house, shops and godowns and make themselves comfortable there. Hence, people need to be watchful when they go to sleep at night and out in the gardens. He also said that people should not put trash in their garage areas as these also attract the reptiles. He finally urged the community members to not harm the reptiles, in case they spot any, and call helpline number 94142-34826, 98295-97722. WSARS team would come for support in all such cases.
