Yearly Census of wild life in Sajjan Garh started on the morning of 25^th May and will conclude by tomorrow, 26^th May morning, whereby official of forest department visited various spots within sanctuary for head count of resident animals.

The precise count of total wild life across the Sanctuary is recorded in the census of wild life which is organized every year by forest department in month of May on the full moon day. It is a 24 hours drive where entry to general masses is prohibited.

According to Jagdish Meena, Range Officer (RO), full moon day is intentionally opted for this exercise so that locating animals in night becomes convenient; Jagdish Meena added that final data sheet will be prepared on 26^th morning.

In the past census of 2012 at Sajjan Garh, 5 panthers were located along with Cheetal and Sambhar, while this year the count is expected to be the same, however under the prevailing temperature figures may vary, elaborated Jagdish Meena. He also informed that sanctuary will re-open for locals from 27^th May onwards.
