Two policemen including an ASI of Ambamata Police Station were subjected to alleged assault by a group of advocates today afternoon. Police has lodged FIR against a dozen advocates for interrupting government work and assault. No arrests have however been made.

Two policemen including an ASI of Ambamata Police Station were subjected to alleged assault by a group of advocates today afternoon. Police has lodged FIR against a dozen advocates for interrupting government work and assault. No arrests have however been made.

Mangilal Menaria, ASI, Ambamata Police Station and Devendra Singh, constable at Bhopalpura Police Station were allegedly manhandled by a group of advocates inside the court premises. ASI Menaria accused the advocates for abusing and beating him when he went to court for getting production warrant of an accused.

Advocates allege that ASI had started abusing them when they requested him to come after lunch time.

According to information provided by S.P Hari Prasad Sharma, advocates were protesting inside the court premises as a part of their ongoing state wide protest against government policies. ASI Manglilal Menaria reached court to get production warrant but advocates refused to assist him and told him to come after lunch.

On this, both advocates and police official got into an argument. Advocates then started hitting Menaria which forced him to take shelter in a nearby chamber.

S.P Sharma told media that, “Devendra Singh, a constable  (dressed in civil clothes) from Bhopalpura Police Station rushed to help Menaria but advocates attacked the constable too and ripped apart his shirt.”

Thereafter, C.I Bhopalpura Satish Meena  reached the spot and rescued both police personnel.

“We have lodged a report against 10-15 advocates for disrupting government work and for the assault” said S.P Sharma.
