The Udaipur District administration has imposed Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code (earlier Section 144 CrPC) in Udaipur following unruly incidents following the news of the knife attack on a school student in Udaipur.

Two students got into an argument while in school at a Government School in Bhatiyani Chohatta area of Udaipur on 16 August. One of the students (name withheld being Minor) attacked the other student with a knife during lunch break, injuring him seriously. The student was rushed to hospital, where his condition is not stable. Following this incident, groups of people came together at the hospital demanding action against the attacker, who belonged to a minority community.

In a video message, the District Collector Arvind Poswal has requested for the community members to observe peace and harmony and not succumb to false social media messaging doing the rounds.

The unruly mob took to the streets and damaged property within and near the walled city areas of Delhi Gate, Hathipol, Chetak Circle etc. They were primarily targetting properties belonging to the minority community.
