Udaipur Police has taken an initiative to increase their monitoring of safety of the life and property of Senior Citizens and there will be special helpline toll numbers for them.

A district level cell will be facilitated soon within the Police Department, which will monitor the safety measures of the old people.

These orders have been given by the Police Head Quarters to every S.P of the District on the directions of the Joint Secretary of the Home Ministry, Central Government.

These directions have been given on the basis of a research report of Bureau of Police Research and Development, which was prepared by Dr. S.N Yadav on the data collected by him of the cases related to torture with the senior citizens.

Call Meeting of Aged citizens

The police departments have been given directions by the Head Quarter to call a meeting of the old age people of the city and also to take help of C.L.G members in maintaining their security.

These meetings ideally should be dedicated to hearing their problems and giving solutions. As per orders, Old Age groups should be formed by taking the assistance of N.G.Os in which Advocates, Doctors, Security experts, etc. should be involved, so that in the time of need a one stop solution provider is available.

To Keep an Eye on Tenants and Domestic Help

Police have been instructed to visit the homes of Old Age people where they have either tenants or domestic help living within the premises. These regular visits will act as a monitoring tool.

As per the orders of the Home Ministry, Police will not only take care of the elder citizens of the city living in their own house but also take care of the people living at Old Age Homes of the city.

To facilitate this, SHOs of the related police stations should visit such Old Age homes and verify the Senior Citizens Progress report.

When Udaipur S.P Mahesh Goyal was approached he said, “By taking the orders of the Head Quarters on priority a special cell will soon be formed in our city, which is already in progress”.

As the Survey Report of Metro City
