Development projects announced in First Budget of Udaipur Development Authority (UDA)
26 June, Udaipur: The General Body Meeting of the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) was held on Wednesday at the UDA auditorium under the chair of UDA Chairman and the Divisional Commissioner, Rajendra Bhatt in the presence of the District Collector Arvind Poswal. UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain presented the budget and laid out the proposed development plans. This was the first budget of the Udaipur Development Authority after the bill on incorporation of the UDA (erstwhile UIT) was passed by Hon'ble Rajasthan Governor, Kalraj Mishra. The salient points of the Budgetary allocations and development plans as presented during the meeting are given below:
Budgetary Provisions:
- Income-Expenditure proposal for the financial year 2024-25 was approved. Estimated Income during the financial year 2024-25 is Rs. 916.19 Crore. Proposed Expenditure is Rs. 902.51 Crore.
- Proposed Expense includes development expense of Rs 692.91 Crore, of which Rs. 251.21 Cr is allocated to the running projects that will be completed in this financial year.
- Rs. 441.69 Crore will be spent on new development projects in Udaipur.
Development Projects:
Cleanlines
- Garbage vehicles, cleaning of roads, water canals, etc will be done by the UMC and UDA has allocated Rs. 7 Crore to the UMC for this purpose.
Development and Maintenance of Cremation Grounds
- Construction and maintenance of sitting area, shed, provision of water for drinking and bathing, electrification and greenery around the various Shamshaan of the city has been allocated Rs. 3 Crore.
Drinking Water
- Rs. 11.07 Crore allocated to making provisions for supply of drinking water in all colonies under purview of UDA, through PHED.
Electrification and Solar Energy Initiatives
- Lighting and electrification provisions on major roads and internal roads in colonies under the purview of the UDA;
- Decorative Light poles between Balich to Bhuwana via Pratapnagar, Lakhavali Lake and on all flyovers;
- Facade lighting at Sevashram Flyover, Pratapnagar Flyover, Fatehsagar Paal, Circuit House and on all flyovers;
- Street Lights and Solar Highmasts at UDA Park and Community Centre;
- Street Lights at Ratnagiri/Ramgiri; CCMS monitoring;
- Solar Blinkers on road dividers;
- Lighting and Street Lights at Jogi Talab and surrounding areas;
- Proposed budgetary allocation: Rs. 27.3 Crore.
Parks and Greenery
- Rs. 8.27 Crore allocated to hill conservation and tree plantation and developing Nagar Van (City Forest) and Anand Van at Ramgiri and Ratnagiri hills for tourists and locals;
- Rs. 7.5 Crore allocated to planting 28,000 trees on major roads of Udaipur.
- Rs. 3.64 Crore to development of parks in residential colonies as well as approved colonies on agriculture land.
Planters and Beautification
- Medians on the areas under UDA are destroyed due to the pressure of traffic and increasing residential popupation;
- Construction of new planters in place of the medians and relevant plantations;
- Rs. 3.4 Crore allocated.
Railway Underpass
- Rs 4 Crore will be transferred to the Railways for the construction of an underpass under the railway line near Nokha village between City Railway Station and Ranapratap Nagar Railway Station.
- Will benefit the residents of suburban areas like Hiran Magri Sec 3, 4 and 5; Swaminagar; Mali Colony; etc.
- Distance to Sikh Colony & Kumharo ka Bhatta will reduce by 1.6km.
Sewerage
- New sewerage network will be laid around the Navratna Complex area;
- WIll be connected to the main trunk line alongside the Ayad river from where it will flow into the STP;
- Rs. 10 Crore allocated.
Sports Infrastructure
- Construction of Pitch at the Cricket ground in Khel Gaon: Rs 1.10 Crore
- Other development work at Khel Gaon: Rs. 40 Lac.
Tourism
- Theme park to be developed inside Nehru Garden at Fatehsagar. This will include a musical fountain, multimedia water show, 7-D theatre, animatronics, facade lighting, selfie-points, etc. The restaurant adjacent to the park will also be renovated and made operational. Boat access to the garden island will be improved. Estimated cost will be around Rs 14 Crore.
- Cleaning and Maintenance of Fatehsagar Lake and immediate perimeter: Rs 3 Crore.
- Rs. 2 Crore for beautification and maintenance of Badi Lake, Jharnon ki Saray Lake, Dhikli Lake, Rakampur Lake, Nayla Talaab and Jogi Talaab.
- Rs. 2 Crore for feeder canal for Lakhawali Lake.
Traffic Management/Road Infra
- Traffic Managemnt at the seven entry points in Udaipur, viz. Nathdwara Road, Chittorgarh Road, Salumber - Banswara (SH 32), Ahmedabad - Balicha Road, Rampura Road, Ranakpur Road and Jhamar Kotda Road. This will include construction of roundabouts, road network enhancement, flyovers, underpass, etc. Budget allocation for 2024-25 is Rs 45 Crore.
- 19km long Internal Ring Road from Balicha to Amberi via Pratapnagar and Bhuwana.
- Development of medians, road dividers, road realingnment, road re-construction works within city to reduce traffic congestion and mitigate accidents. Total Proposed Expense is Rs. 118.93 Crore, of which the allocation for 2024-25 is Rs. 93.43 Crore.

Rs. 27 Crore has been allocated for the construction, renovation and redesign of 16 overflow drainage canals across Udaipur as follows:
