Udaipur Administration Orders School and Colleges Shut on 17 August
Subsequent to imposing Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code (earlier Section 144 CrPC), the Udaipur District Collector has ordered that all schools and colleges in Udaipur will remain closed on 17 August 2024 till further orders.
This order was issued late night on 16 August and applies to the entire area under the jurisdiction of the Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) and the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA). The order applies to all classes from Class 1 till 12 across all schools, private and government as well as colleges both private and government.
The administration has also warned that strict action will be taken against any institution under the above purview that fails to comply with this order. Earlier during the day, following the sensitive law and order situation in Udaipur after the school knife attack incident, the administration had imposed Section 163 across all areas under the purview of UMC and UDA and also ordered shutdown of the mobile internet services across Udaipur City, Bedla, Badgaon, Balicha, Debari, Eklingpura, Kanpur, Dhikli, and Bhuwana.
